Marionettes

Completely Done by Grace
Complements by Bigs

You walk like a dangling marionette
That has nowhere to be
Breaking in those shoes, I’ll bet
Your habits don’t come for free

The skeleton girls all over the sidewalks
Seeing faces through a doorknob
Turn on the light when my thoughts run away
As if what wasn’t there won’t stay

He’s frozen, addicted, and his home really stinks
A baby in a box, she’s a machine
With optimism, worse than a jinx
Now he’s long gone, she’s in between

Now you don’t have much nice to say about him, though he gave you away
But something better, you’re marking the date
She will have all of the good you can give her
You will be so much better
